East Leeds Got Talent

Hi my name is David a.k.a Didds, and last year I came up with the ideal for a local talent show. Originally I wanted to call it ‘Swarcliffes Got Talent’, But when Approached youth workers at Swarcliffes Detached Youth Work Project & St Gregorys Youth & Adult Centre they suggested to opening the event to a bigger audience. So in a series of meetings with myself, Les parkinson and Claire Billingham we decided to open it to the entire East Leeds area. ‘ East Leeds Got Talent’.
Also my original idea was to open the Talent show to any age! But due to Legal reasons this would not be possible. I was overwelmed by the amount I had to organise just for one event, so the next thing we had to do was get funding for the event, we applied for money from Leeds City Council, Councillor Suzie Armitage, she was kind enough to give us £250 to helf fund the event. We also applied for money from Aire Valley Homes, the helped fund with a further £250. The £500 was to pay for Prizes (vouchers), a trophy, decorations and two photographic display!
The event was held at St Gregorys Youth & Adult Centre, a number of young people from, Swarcliffe, Crossgates, and not part of East Leeds Bramley and Boston Spa. There was 3 judges on the night, myself, Pat Brooke and Jane Devine (youth worker). On the night the acts included
Duty calls, Jemski Dance Group, Divider and the Echo Kids. In 1st: The Echo Kids 2nd: Jemski Dabce Group (senior) 3rd: Crossgates Drama Group.
