Unity Radio Broadcast Blog - June 2008

Posted by andy on June 2, 2008 – 5:29 pm

It seems like no time at all since I sat in front of this very laptop writing last Months blog and here I am doing it all over again. Yesterday ELFM ran the 3rd Unity Broadcast from the One Centre in Lincoln Green and, once again, we saw (or should that be heard?) the usual mix of local people talking about the things that are important to them, a round up of local cultural events (not to mention fashion tips) all rounded off with 2 hours of live music from local artists.

The day started off at 5 with an hour of chat & music on the “All up to the youth” show presented by a group of young people from East Leeds. This was followed up with the men from the “PRU”, that would be the Pupil Referral Unit not the well known insurance company! Presented by our illustrious leader, Adrian, we learnt more about the work the unit does with young people who have been excluded from mainstream education. To round off the first half of the broadcast we had the “Culture Vulture” show with Jason and his culture vultures Emma & Helen. As well as the usual mixture of news & reviews there was an interview with the organisers of the “Moor Music Festival” recorded at the Brudenell Social Club.

To round off the day we had 2 hours of live music “In the Boudoir”. This Months acts were Jon Gomm, Hurricane Sunday & Ben Pike.

Highlights from this Months broadcast will be on the site soon, why not subscribe to the RSS feed to make sure you don’t miss a thing?

The next internet broadcast will be from the ELFM Caravan at the Halton Moor & Osmondthorpe Gala on Saturday June 21st and the next Unity Broadcast will be on Sunday July 6th.

Bring on a summer of excellent community radio…from the people too the people!!
