broadcasting to both valleys at once
We make the appropriate copyright payments to the Performing Rights Society (PRS); Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL); and the Mechanical Copyright Protection Society MCPS.
So, when it is appropriate, we allow people to download the audio that we have streamed ie when we have permission from the artists, particularly when it is a live recording they have made for ELFM. In fact we encourage you to share the audio far-and-wide – and, if you like it, please go to the artist’s website and pay for some of their music or catch them live at a gig locally. And similarly for the writers who work with ELFM.
SUPPORT LOCAL ARTISTS! ELFM certainly does!
When you can download the audio, you will see a download link in the corner of the listen-again player– follow the link and you will begin to download an mp3 file.
Similarly for video files (although – 11-05-10 – we are currently tweaking the player to make the download button appear) and in that case you will be able to download a .m4v file with video and audio.
If you want to listen on an iphone – easiest thing is just to use our special i-phone friendly stream at http://www.elfm.co.uk/iphone/stream.pls
Keep your eyes open for our elfm iphone app – coming soon! And thanks to Common Agency who have worked so hard on our new website
ELFM is an internet-based community radio station. We don’t broadcast on FM – just through the website. So … what you do is listen in to the programmes either live when we are on air; or through the listen again or looping feature.
But don’t just listen. Feel free to comment in the panel at the bottom of each page – we love to hear your thoughts.
The ELFM player is used to listen to audio or, when available, watch video. Find out more at the following pages:
When we are live on air you can listen to the stream by clicking on the play button on the player which you will see on the home page of the website. There is also a pop out version of the player so you can go looking through the rest of the website whilst listening.
For special events you will also be able to switch the player so that you can watch a live video stream. For this you may have to have a fairly fast broadband link – so if that’s not working effectively, you can always switch back to the audio stream.
At other times many programmes are available for listen again. Either scroll through the panel of programmes on the home page or have a look through the different broadcasts on the listen again page.
Any problems – leave a comment and we’ll do our best to help.
This year in addition to the audio we are filming, and streaming live, the whole 24 hours of our Musicathon, right here on our website. That means you can see everything from great big bands full of loads of people (Milk White White Teeth, Hope and Social and out Next Generation musicians) to Maggie 8’s Jurassic Park: The Musical and the rather mysterious 7am ‘Dissolve’.
You’ll need a fairly fast broadband connection in order to be able to watch at a good quality, and it will also depend a little bit on how quick your computer itself is. But don’t worry if you are struggling as you can just listen to the audio by itself in the player. And all the video is going to be up on the website after the broadcast for you to watch again and again as much as you wish!
If you have any comments or queries about the player during the broadcast then by all means send an email to paddy@headstogether.org and, if it’s the shift where he’s awake(!), we’ll take a look for you.
Enjoy the Musicathon!
Go you 99 problems? Well, the ELFM Player shouldn’t be one.
We’ve tried to make the player as easy and reliable to use as we can but inevitably the odd thing will slip through the cracks.
Assuming you’re here because you’ve found a problem with player on one of our pages we’d really appreciate it if you could help us out by reporting the problem in the comments below.
NB: please write you message above the content we’ve automatically inserted into the comment box – this will be really helpful to us in solving the problem.
