23rd June 2012
We entrust the musical torch to promoter, studio boss, label head and all-round good egg… Mr Jack Simpson. Jack has curated at all of the previous Musicathons and provided some of our most memorable moments.
9pm Soul Circus
Soul Circus will be known by most people who know their Leeds Music Scene and like a bit of guitar-wielding action. When not performing for ELFM as part of the recent School Sounds project, Soul Circus release their latest single as a Soundpeople release and continue to attract followers across the country.
9.30pm Japanese Fighting Fish
Welcome to the world that is Japanese Fighting Fish. It’s a strange world, a surprising world, a wonderful world. It is a world that you must experience for yourself…and where better than chapELFM.
10pm Simon Pollard
A mix of country, pop and rock bring unexpected delights from this Leeds four-piece who played Reading and Leeds as winners of the hotly-contested Futuresound competition. And what’s more they brought along Kieran O’Malley with them on fiddle. Just how many bands he has played with over four ELFM musicathons…well I don’t think even he knows!
10.30pm Micky P Kerr
Micky is tall, dark and handsome. So he says anyways and far be it for us to disagree. He has that combination of sheer brilliance and total madness! He’s Jet 2′s artist of choice; played Leeds Festival; and supported the Pigeon Detectives. Currently finishing his debut album in the studio. Who knows what to expect!
11.15 Echo of Betestha
An African Christian group who sing in Portuguese, English, French and an African dialect. They sing in churches. They sound fantastic.
