The Musicathon Schedule

Well here it is – as much detail as we can give you right now…
First off – we have to say this… all times are approximate and liable to change! And apologies if we’ve got names or other details wrong..
3pm The gospel according to ELFM
Starting in a soul groove will be the one and only Rev Chunky opening our Chapel of Love with special guests.
4pm Escape from the Disco Dungeon
Everybody Loves Fabulous Music – our monthly internet music broadcasts have featured live sessions from some excellent local artists. Presented in her own inimitable style, Helen has invited three bands to escape from the disco dungeon into the glorious Chapel – No Drinks on the Dance Floor, Laura Jayne Hunter and Chichino – and we’re hoping for a guest spot on the phone from the one and only John Gomm.
5pm Moor Music
Presented by students from Temple Moor: Electric Umbrella, the mysterious Band with No Name (suggestions welcome) and the one and only Hope and Social
6pm Celtic Hour
Featuring Anima and Northern Ceol with singer-songwriter, ODi, on the phone from Ireland (last heard on an ELFM broadcast in Lincoln Green!)
7pm Peace and Love, Man
Peter Spafford combines a Full English Breakfast with Chapel Allerton choir Good in Parts
8pm Chapel Folk Jam
A specially created extravaganza from the outstanding Maggie 8 using everything from banjo to the Chapel organ to a plastic bottle half-filled with water
9pm The Olive Branch
Music from East Leeds where the olive line buses run… The Creeks, Steve Bolton and the Waifs and Strays – presented by ELFMers Leon and Geoff
10pm Soundmill Selection Box
Our very own Ed and Si share a couple of acts that have been recording at The Soundmill – Ellen and the Escapades and Caroline
11pm The Witching Hour
As the ELFM nightshift takes over, a solo set from Rob Galloway of the Yalla Yallas; the Young Loves and our very own Maddie takes us through to the midnight hour..
12am Guitar Heroes
The power and the beauty of the guitar: flamenco guitarist Ramtin Montazemy, singer-songwriter Sue Smith and blues guitar from Ben Pike
1am Solo Revolutionaries
Ben stays on to host an hour with Emma McPartlan showcasing the music promoted by Acoustic Revolution – Rosie Doonan, Troy Fade and Jordan Senior
2am The Cannonball Express
George Riley of Cannonball Studios brings you Spirit of John, Rebel Yell, Will Newman and SSSSS
3am Sound People
Jack Simpson, himself a former John Smeaton pupil, and now working with Sound People promotions – brings you a feast of delights from Silverlode, Milk White White Teeth, Tsienna, The Light Streams & Lee Malcolm
4am ELFM’s got talent
Well who else was going to do the 4am slot! Helen, Elliott, Gee, Tom and Ramtin take the ‘thon into the second half …
5am Dawn Chorus
Lucy Barker from the Moor Music Festival presents a beautiful, beautiful early morning treat – voice and double bass from Elisabeth Nygaard and Russell Pearson
6am The What Slot
The one we couldn’t fill … until Graham Jones came to our rescue. Our hero who will keep the ‘thon on track in the early hours – and a brilliant musician at that.
7am The Little Wind Up
Jonathan Lindh, apart from being a long-term ELFMer, is the architect who is working with us on long-term ideas for giving a new lease of life to the Chapel on a permanent basis. He will be bringing his fiddle and is joined by Jules Marley and Joe Feather together with Crank – led by Nick Williams – a piece composed for hand-wound music boxes
8am Rise and Shine
Fair Play will bring you to life – drums, flute and more
9am 0-60 in 60 minutes
The kids are certainly up now … and in the studio with Les Vegas and the International Playboys of Rhythm
10am On Song
The power of the voice from Lee Lambert, Georgian choir Samzeo and jazz singer Jenny Smith
11am Totally Smitten
Working with the LS14 Trust artists including Gav and Daley, Tom Zenetti, Dan Audio, Pat Fulgoni, Sara Garvey and Dan Goldman
12pm Singing from the Same Hymnbook
Presented by David Laycock on this Palm Sunday, a whole range of music including the Tom Havoc band, Colton Methodist Choir; D-Boyz from Domaine Youth Works, and a re-appearance from our very own Cleve Freckleton. Get that chapel singing to it’s rafters…
1pm Oh no it isn’t
The beautiful voice of 9-year old Alicia Swain leads us onto the stage. Metro Goldwyn Gipton presents a panto in 20 minutes and Roger Harrington sings Tom Lehrer. Oh the lights… the music…
2pm A Bit of what you fancy
The fabulous Finnlys start our final hour. The show’s not over ’til you’ve had a ukelele on stage and Rory’s the man – with Sheila on flute – and then … well, how would you finish a twenty-four hour musicathon? Let us know because we haven’t quite decided yet! We’ve got a day to work it out…

We want more.fantastic effort by the ELFMers and the various perfomers volunteers, drop inners, organ grinders, monkeys, audience. This is a milestone in the history of Leeds and definitely East Leeds..
