Jeans for Genes
Posted by Adrian on May 7, 2008 – 2:08 pmWe just wanted to let you know about a great charity event that’s
happening in Leeds over this week. Its for the charity Jeans for
Genes. It’s entirely internet based, free to enter and you could win
celebrity signed jeans. All you have to do is figure out the location
from the clue on the website www.weararemyjeans.com. We’re really
excited about this event and would be great if you might be able to
feature it in any way. I’ve attached the press release for more info
and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Old Smeaton
Posted by katy on May 7, 2008 – 1:29 pmYoung people from John Smeaton High School have always been involved with East Leeds FM – in fact the first three voices ever heard on ELFM back in 2003 were all Year 9 girls from Smeaton. When the school was built back in the 1960s, it was a building ahead of it’s time - known as the Smeaton Project and designed by John Poulson - the (in)famous architect.
By 2007, the building itself was in a sorry state of repair - and a brand new school was being built next to the old one. As students and staff prepared for the move, Katy worked with Year 8 pupils to record their memories of the old place and their aspirations for the new school.
In 2008, ELFM plans to return soon to the new school building to find out how it’s all turned out…
