It’s time for the Sunday Joint. And a cool summer offering it is.
4.15-4.45: One on One: Steve Dearden has a new collection of short stories published as an e-book by Poetry Business. Many people know Steve for his innovative work promoting and connecting other writers, originally with the Ilkley Literature Festival, latterly with The Writing Squad and i-Move this year. But Steve has always produced his own work. Here he talks to Peter Spafford about it.
5.15-6.30pm: The Word Salad. Our monthly compendium of words and music. This Sunday’s theme is The Gift: What is worth handing on? What is a gift? What does gifted mean? What would we most like to receive? Poetry, stories, dialogues, discussion, featuring a clamour of local writers and readers. Or should that be a glamour…?
6.30: A live set from Emily Levy. Emily recently launched her new album, ‘Lost and Found’, at Seven Arts Centre, backed by a fabulous band featuring Dave Bowie Jnr, Mark Cresswell and Richard Ormrod. Here she gives us a sample of her work. ‘Undeniably beautiful’ (leedsmusicscene.net)
