Garforth Arts Festival is on for two weeks – have a look at their website for details of all the events leading up to the Playground Party on Saturday July 11th.

ELFM will be dedicating our next FAB broadcast on Sunday 12th July to the Festival with a round-up of what’s been happening up…

It’s a brilliant festival, linking in professional artists working alongside young people and really involving local people. We will be recording at many of the events this year and, if you get along to the Playground Party (and we would highly recommend it), check out the Everybody Loves Fabulous Music stage. There will be loads of fantastic acts on the 11th including Chumbawamba, the Buzzcocks and the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain… but for Dave Evans, the director of the Festival, there’s something happening at 5pm that, for him, is the absolute climax of the whole event.

We caught up with a remarkably-relaxed Dave after the Festival’s opening night and asked him to explain more…

  3. The Playground Party was the best ever…and the Ukelele Orchestra were fantastic.

the kids groups did us proud, and Garfoth Community College proved once again that it turns out great musicians. Roll on Arts Festival 2010!!

  4. The first two Shiny Bands should have been allowed longer sets. They’re just starting out and need encouraging.

It was an excellent day and thankfully the rain stayed way till near the end of the Buzzcocks.
