Another Sunday and another ELFM broadcast. This Months broadcast was as interesting as ever, my personal highlight has to be the “United as One” show which showcased the life of young African’s in Harehills. As well as some genuinely funny chat, they played a mixture of music genres - from African through to UK Grime.
Once again our friends from the Leeds Kurdish Community Association put on an interesting mix of music and chat - it’d be interesting next time to hear about the Association’s work as well as the influence of Kurdish culture on the area. Finally we reprised the popular “In the Boudoir” show. Shared between 3 local acts we had live music from Streetlights, Maggie 8 and ODi. They all sounded amazing from my view point (in the studio listening through headphones) and the interviews were quite enlightening as well. All 3 acts had to choose some tracks to be played after their live set, again some interesting choices - some unexpected.
What could be better for the next broadcast? More people sticking around after their slots, I know we’re all volunteers but the bands that come along later in the day need our support, more people in the room would make the performances even better - it would make clearing up afterwards easier as well!!
Roll on the next internet broadcast on Sunday June 1st.
If you want to learn more why not come along to the next meeting on May 21st? Full details can be found here.
