High Fidelity Show - Links

Posted by andy on August 2, 2008 – 7:44 am | No Comments

Between July 21st and August 1st, the High Fidelity show brought you some of the best local bands playing live in the “Disco Dungeon”. This was a first for an ELFM broadcast and was a huge success, if I do say so myself! Below are links to all of the websites of the bands who performed over the past 2 weeks.

Finally a special thank you to Ed Heaton for arranging all of the bands and making them sound so good.

Enjoy!

The Morning after the night before

Posted by andy on July 25, 2008 – 9:48 am | No Comments

Last night was another top night of live music from the Disco Dungeon and another guest presenter in the Nigel Zone.

Yesterdays live music came courtesy of Supergyre who played us 3 songs. If I hadn’t seen it for myself I would find it hard to believe that it was just one man, a guitar and his laptop could create the sounds he did!

In the Nigel Zone we had the Super Duper LP show with DJ LP. He’ll be back later today with some young voices from the Pupil Referral Unit on the Whateva show at 1pm, and hopefully the Super Duper LP show will be back at some point next week.

Looking forward to tonight when we have Chiccino in the Disco Dungeon and Leon in the Nigel Zone.

Looking forward to a rest this weekend!!

These Early Mornings and Weekend Japery

Posted by Paddy on – 9:10 am | No Comments

I thought that, as no breakfast show member had written about their experiences, I would! Essentially I have to get up earlier than them, sit around whilst they broadcast, and be generally sleepy, with none of the fun of getting to talk! Still, I’m not bitter (cough..) and they do provide me and all of us with two hours of fun each and every morning. I get the feeling this time next week they may be broadcasting in their sleep.

Moving swiftly on from what could become a rant I shall inform and educate you all of this weekends plans. The Management here at ELFM (Adrian, Ed and, to an extent, me!) have decided we should conserve our energy in order to better prepare ourselves for another monday to fridays worth of ELFM. As such we’ve decided this weekend will be an extended ‘Best Of’ with interviews, podcasts, tunes from local bands and live set from up and coming musicians.

So we might not be hear in person, but the spirit never leaves! Keep tuned in to 87.7fm or bookmark www.elfm.co.uk and listen in all weekend for excellent community radio, from the people - to the people.

Painting Boggart Hill

Posted by helen on July 13, 2008 – 8:26 pm | 2 Comments

Today, as the studio was being set up for the broadcast next week, me and Emma painted the big room we use for meetings.

We decided to paint it white, but the paint was ‘cornflour white’ so it is now more blue, but it looks great and much better than before. We had loads of fun and we hope everyone will enjoy the new paint work!
