ELFM’s Tuesday Night Takeaway

From the 14th of September ELFM is going weekly! Every Tuesday evening we are going to bring you what’s good to do, where’s good to go, and (as always) the best local, new and live music. From our base in Seacroft we’ll be broadcasting live right here on the website, a couple of hours worth of radio that will be run by our team of volunteers and that will not only help you get involved in what’s happening in East Leeds, but also hopefully bring you things that you never even knew happened here!

If you have anything you think we should be talking about, or any local music you think we should be playing, then please comment below and we’ll see what we can do!

Linda – Heads Together

To kick off our work experience (after two days of snow which meant unfortunately we couldn’t make it into Huddersfield) we were asked by Adrian to interview Linda Strudwick, Heads Together’s Development Director.

For those that don’t know, Heads Together is the parent company of ELFM. Created back in 1986 by a group of physical theatre performers, the company has progressed over the years, and set up ELFM in 2003. Most people know Adrian well, but may not have had the pleasure of meeting Linda. Here’s what we found out when we interviewed her….

Leeds City Museum

ELFM took a trip down to the newly-opened Leeds City Museum to take a look around have a chat with Helen Langford – curator of the special exhibition “A lasting moment” featuring photographs of East Leeds from the 50s taken by Marc Riboud – like the one above.

There are plans to extend the work out of the Museum, into East Leeds, through the libraries, the internet and … we hope … with ELFM

Kinch

In July 2008 Leeds Indie Pop kids Kinch dropped in to play an acoustic set and chat about their up and coming single ‘Everybody’s Talking About It’. In a brilliant stroke of timing this very single is currently sitting at No 7 on the Indie Charts. A massive well done to the boys! Now listen to why everybody’s talking about Kinch (see what we’ve done there).
