Fancy yourself as a budding journalist, web developer or media tycoon?
The Breeze International Youth Festival is offering you the chance to represent Leeds in a national project called Portrait of a Nation (PoN), which looks at what culture and heritage means to young people like you. You will be in charge of coming up with creative ideas and content for the PoN website, and for regularly updating the website with your ideas.
You get full training on how to use the website and also all the help you need and will be there to guide you with ideas, but the choice of what goes on the website is yours! Some things you might like to do:
· Take photographs and make videos of anything around Leeds that you find interesting
· Interview other young people about topics that you think are important
· Produce mini-reports on local issues and start an online debate
At the end of the year, you get the chance to go to Liverpool for the national showcase event, where you can share your ideas and meet other young people from all over the country. The showcase event will be a huge national celebration covered by the national media.
Not only will this project be great fun, it will also look fantastic on your CV and will give you loads of skills and experience that will help you in your career.
All we ask of you is that you commit to meeting us once a month for a couple of hours to update the website, and that you spend some time in between coming up with ideas and gathering things to put up on the site.
Website training will be on Wednesday 26th March from 2 - 5pm at Leeds Town Hall
Please can you email ann.wishart@leeds.gov.uk or call 0113 2478049 by Thursday 20th March if you would like to take part.
And of course you could link up all the work you are doing straight into the ELFM website – let us know if you are going for it.
