"From the playground to the people"

ELFM began back in 2003 as a project led by pupils from John Smeaton Community High School. Since then we have enjoyed working with a huge range of schools. Here's a selection of the best of ELFM's recent broadcasting done in partnership with local schools

Park Spring at the Temple

Posted by Adrian on September 3, 2009 – 6:30 pm

Staff from Park Spring Primary School were up at Temple Newsam House today on a training day run by Artforms from Education Leeds. We had done something similar with St Teresa’s at the beginning of the summer and it seemed to work well … so why not. Same team back together – Theatre Company Blah Blah Blah, visual artist Lou Sumray and ELFM/Heads Together (with assistance from ELFMers Helen and Elliott – thanks for giving us some time on the last days of your summer holidays guys).

Our aim was to put together a show that explained what this kind of day is all about – broadcast live from the Caravan of Love on one of its last outings of the “summer”. Have a listen…

Wonderful Whitby

Posted by Adrian on July 17, 2009 – 7:40 am

ELFM helped to deliver a training day with staff at St Theresa’s Primary School earlier in the summer. We got a call a couple of weeks ago asking us to come and talk to the staff and pupils about their residential in Whitby and make a podcast from it. We were doing some training with some High School students from Corpus Christi at the time so it was an ideal opportunity to put their newly developed skills to the test.

This is what we found out about wonderful Whitby…

PS If anyone has any photos of the sunset or anything else that we could use … email them to info@elfm.co.uk

ELFM had a lovely time with pupils and staff from Templenewsam Halton Primary School. We worked during the week and broadcast on the Thursday. There were a series of programmes during the day… with a few breaks in-between so we can get our breath back… The schedule is below.

TempoNewsam – we think … we do!

Schedule:

9am Sowing the Seeds: Gardening tips and an introduction to the day’s broadcasting

10am On the Beat: Chatting with local PC Peatfield and an introduction to the School Council

11.15am Top of the Class: What we think of our school and interviews with Mrs Mannion – Chair of Governors – and our headteacher Mrs Crellin; plus a special phone interview with Education Leeds top man – Chris Edwards

12pm Caravan of Love: a tribute to Michael Jackson from the Caravan of Love on the field…You just had to be there for the dancing alone … We can’t put the show up because there are too many copyrighted tracks – but have a listen to the premiere of the Y6 girls version of Superstar

Black Children’s Achievements

          Black Children's Awards

We were only too happy to attend the Black Children’s Achievement Programme/Primary African Caribbean Excellence Ceremony down at the Civic Hall. A truly inspiring event, we were asked to record the event and make a dvd for participants. Here is the main feature of the dvd.

TMR Strikes Back

Posted by Elliott on June 26, 2009 – 12:55 pm

Next Tuesday (30th June) Temple Moor Radio will be back with a vengeance (you can listen to some of the previous tmr broadcast). As part of our Citizenship Day Broadcast, two of our school bands will be battling it out to see which one can be crowned king of the airwaves. On top of that there’s carefully hand-picked music and shout-outs from students and staff.

Tune in at 12:10pm on www.elfm.co.uk or templemoorradio.co.uk to listen in, and find out more!

Jane Tomlinson 10k Run

Posted by edheaton on June 25, 2009 – 5:10 pm

10k

We’ve recently started working with students and staff from Corpus Christi High School in Halton Moor. As one of their first tasks, they attended the third annual Jane Tomlinson 10k run in Leeds.  The run continues to raise money for many different cancer charities and acts as a lasting memorial to Jane who died in 2007, but who’s legacy continues to inspire.
